Extrusion Associate

Overview
The Extrusion Associate is responsible for operating and maintaining machines that extrude aluminum alloys into custom profiles, bars, tubes, rods, and angles.
Job Responsibilities
- Sets up and operates extrusion press to shape hot billets into products, such as bars, tubing, structural shapes, custom profiles, and rods;
- Installs dies, stem/ram, dummy blocks, shear blades, bolsters, containers, other press tools, and run-out separator in press, according to size and type of product, using overhead 50-ton crane;
- Operates automated equipment by calling billet from furnace when indicated to keep production steady
- Starts ram that spreads billet into container/die and forces it through press;
- Regulates rate of extrusion to ensure quality compliance and production metrics;
- Starts press, manages run-out table and operates butt shear to guide extrusion from press and maintain production;
- Pulls extrusion along conveyor to stretching table;
- Sprays die with lubricant to ensure no buildup between tooling stacks;
- Records data in EPICS, such as crew time, number of billets used, and items processed;
- May operate fork truck to handle raw material (log) or scrap material at saws;
- Stretches material based on temper to achieve specific mechanical properties, straightness, flatness, or other quality attributes;
- Saws material to customers specified length;
- Continuously looks for ways to improve quality, efficiency, safety, and hygiene of the operation;
- Performs other required tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Demonstrate ability to read measuring devices (tape measure),
- Minimum 1-2 years manufacturing experience;
- Must be able to spend all day on his/her feet;
- Must be able to occasionally enter into the machine following proper lock out/tag out procedure.
- Must be able to drive a forklift truck after provided the proper training;
- Ability to work in a team environment;
- Maintain the production pace of other team members;
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs;
