Sr Staff / Inventory Cost Accountant

Overview
The Senior Staff and Inventory Cost Accountant directs activities of product costing, product manufacturing analysis, and inventory valuation. The position provides recommendations to senior management in support of the achievement of Company goals. This position is onsite only.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop standard cost calculation procedures and update MRP system for new products
- Calculates product standard cost according to defined procedure
- Initiate improvements of standard costing processes within MRP system
- Coordinates with new product development team to provide cost analysis and acts as liaison between sales and engineering to provide updated quote templates
- Analyzes and reports manufacturing variances, making recommendations for corrective actions
- Prepares and reviews inventory balances with ageing breakdown
- Verify scrap inventory balance comparing perpetual vs book balances
- Identify and report reasons for variances in scrap inventory balances and make recommendations for corrective actions
- Confirms, verifies and posts authorized inventory adjustments
- Perform cycle count and field audits and reconcile balances
- Prepares aged inventory reserve calculation sheet and analyze reasons for the variance
- Complete Month end inventory report
- Prepare operation related revenue and COGS reports
- Recommends and implements system and procedural improvements and participates in cost savings and process improvements initiatives.
- Supports auditor for any inventory, shipping, and costing related questions.
- Maintain listings of company-wide fixed assets, review CIP process with operation weekly to track the progress and identify gaps
- Prepares monthly & quarterly company/group reporting
- Perform month-end and year-end closings according to required timelines
- Annual Financial and Tax audit planning and completion
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field
- Professional accounting designation preferred
- Previous experience as an accountant, junior accountant, or accounting supervisor
- Excellent computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite knowledge
- Proficiency with accounting software systems and implementation a plus
- Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
