Buyer - Manufacturing Facility

Overview

 The Buyer is responsible to identify and manage qualified Vendors who are capable of meeting Nanshan’s business needs for non-production materials, MRO parts supply, and facility services.   This position is responsible to establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers in order to streamline the purchasing process and secure optimal pricing and material flow. 

 Job Responsibilities

  • Research vendors and develops price database, specifications, and other data related to goods and services.
  • Ensure vendors are qualified and in compliance with Nanshan guidelines.
  • Negotiates pricing for all material requirements, equipment requirements, and / or service contracts. 
  • Mitigate proposed cost increase through negotiation or alternate item or vendor (if required).
  • Establish and maintain measurable performance metrics for Vendor base.
  • Reviews all contracts to ensure specific requirements, terms and conditions, and pricing structure is accurate.
  • Confirm signing level is appropriate for all contracts based on contract dollar value.
  • Collaborates with department managers / representatives in order to execute supply and vendor strategies.
  • Creates material item numbers for use in the manufacturing and purchasing process.
  • Creates purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Prepares and issues purchase orders and purchase requisition for non-production material and plant supplies.
  • Resolves issues concerning orders, material returns, and material availability concerns in a timely manner.
  • Develops and uses market knowledge and Purchasing skills to develop strong vendors recommendations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or related business field.
  • Minimum 2 years of Purchasing or Supply Chain Management experience.
  • Proven negotiation skills.
  • Experienced with service contract and equipment lease evaluations.
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (EXCEL)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of various MRP systems: GP Dynamics and EPICS.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong professional and personal ethics.
